Vincent Anthony
Executive Director, President, and Founder
Middle for Puppetry Arts

Vincent Anthony is executive manager and board president of the Center for Puppetry Arts, which he founded in 1978. Nether his leadership, the centre has received a record 12 Citations of Excellence from UNIMA-USA, the U.S. division of Union Internationale de la Marionnette, the international organization for the fine art of puppetry. A native of Sarasota, Florida, Anthony has also received a personal Citation of Excellence from UNIMA-USA—
puppetry's most prestigious honour. Prior to founding the eye, Anthony was a puppeteer for New York's Nicolo Marionettes and founder of the Vagabond Marionettes in Atlanta.

Why I chose this piece of work: I became fascinated past puppetry during an audience and remained in the field. And so, equally a member of the planning committee for the 1980 Globe Puppetry Festival, I was inspired to open a place that would exist dedicated to the art of puppetry.

Pearl Cleage
